Swedish violinist Christian Svarfvar holds a privileged place in the world of concert music as one of Sweden's most important and exciting young instrumentalists. Born in 1982 into a family of musicians, Christian began playing the violin at the age of five and at 12 he made his debut with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra playing Beriot's Concerto in G major which allowed him to be re -invited the following year with the Mendelssohn Concerto. Three years later he entered the Royal Academy in Stockholm and upon completion of his studies at that institution he was accepted into the Juilliard School in New York. Upon graduation, his career began to soar thanks to the European Concert Hall Organization (ECHO) with invitations to perform at venues such as the Musikverein in Vienna, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Cité de la Musique in Paris, Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, New York's Carnegie Hall, Kölner Philharmonie and many others. Some of his recent engagements include the Arts Center in Seoul, Korea, the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, and with orchestras such as the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Helsinki, Istanbul, Nordic Chamber Orchestra and the Simón Bolívar Symphony. In the field of chamber music, he constantly collaborates with such famous musicians as Julian Rachlin, Frans Helmersson, Janine Jansen, Tabea Zimmerman, Clemens Hagen, Maxim Rysanov and Martin Fröst. He has an exclusive contract with BIS Records thanks to which he recorded two successful compact discs in 2016. In March 2016 he was awarded the Stockholm Medal of Honor for Culture.
